EHS Hosts Paralympian and Military Veteran Melissa Stockwell in Special Memorial Day Event

We invite you to join us Monday, May 25, at 5:30 p.m. EST, for a special Memorial Day event.

Episcopal’s McCain-Ravenel Center for Intellectual and Moral Courage will host U.S. Army veteran and Paralympian Melissa Stockwell. Deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, in 2004, she lost most of her left leg when the blast from a roadside bomb struck her Humvee. Within a few years, she was competing in the Paralympics and is now a three-time world champion in the Paratriathlon.

Melissa also is a coach and co-founder of the Dare2tri Paratriathlon club. Dare2tri serves all ability levels of youth, adults, and injured service members who have a physical disability such as amputation, spinal cord injury, stroke, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, and those with visual impairments and blindness.

Stockwell's book "The Power of Choice" will be released this summer. With EHS, she will share the story of her journey from wounded warrior to world champion and talk about how we all have the ability to choose our own path in life.
