9/11/25
On Thursday, September 11, our community honored and remembered the victims of the 9/11 attacks that took place 24 years ago. At sunrise (6:45 a.m.), the community gathered in Hummel Bowl, where three members of the senior class, accompanied by 12th grade dean Captain Joe Eldred, raised the Freedom Flag, a powerful symbol created in Virginia in 2001 to honor and remember those we lost in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. An annual commemoration at Episcopal, the Freedom Flag will fly over Hummel Bowl for one month.
The bell in Hoxton House tolled four times that Thursday morning, at 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m., and 10:03 a.m., honoring all who died, including the souls on American Flight 11, United Flight 175, American Flight 77, and United Flight 93.
