Generosity of EHS Community Fuels Record 24-Hour Campaign

The EHS 24/7 Roll Call Challenge, Episcopal’s third giving-day campaign, netted a record 1,208 donors and nearly $405,000, shattering goals for the effort.
The extended Episcopal community of alumni, parents, students, and faculty quickly exceeded expectations in the 24-hour drive. Though the effort launched just after midnight on Tuesday, March 26, the number of donors surpassed the goal of 700 by early afternoon. At day’s end, the figure had eclipsed the totals for both the 2018 and 2017 campaigns.

Thanks to this remarkable support, overall giving to the Roll Call has now topped $2.6 million for the school year, more than 75 percent of the annual goal.

“The strength of the Episcopal community is that we show our commitment to the School and to each other every day, not just on special occasions,” said Margaret Waters ’06, director of annual giving and special programs.

Key to the giving-day success were 13 generous alumni from the 1990s and 2000s who stepped up to challenge the community by collectively pledging an additional $51,248 in Roll Call gifts if the 700-donor goal was reached. They were: Cary Goodwin ’93 (Chair), Drew Moretz ’90, John Smith ’90, Adair Graham ’93, Peryn Harmon Graham ’94, Josh Davis ’95, Barbara Kennedy Harty ’96, Becky Kellam Everhart ’99, Carl Morris ’99, Jordan Phillips ’00, Chris Joseph ’03, CeCe Barfield Thompson ’03, and Tim Hightower ’04

Other highlights include:
  • 100 percent of the Class of 2019 participated.
  • The Class of 2018, the youngest alumni class, had the most donors, winning the right to name a new crew boat for the School.
  • The Class of 2021 had the highest number of parent and grandparent donors, earning the class a dress-down day.
