James Cooke Wilson '38

Mr. Wilson lettered in both varsity football and varsity basketball at Episcopal. He excelled in football by earning All-State honors during his junior and senior years, serving as co-captain his senior year and leading the team in a 21-0 winning streak over three years. The 1938 Whispers called him “the most thrilling player to watch on the field and a brilliant offensive and defensive center.” In his senior season, Mr. Wilson blocked a punt in the end zone near the end of the Hill game to save an 8-6 victory and maintain the undefeated streak. His teammates considered him to be the inspirational leader of the team.

Off the field, Mr. Wilson was elected Senior Monitor. He also served on the EHS Board of Trustees.
