Girls Varsity Basketball Continues Winning Streak

The Maroon knew they'd have to remained composed for 32 minutes to pull of a win in hostile territory. The Frogs hopped out to an early lead, but Episcopal responded after calling a timeout to refocus. The comeback effort was led by Sophie Singletary '18 who took matters into her own hands midway through the first stanza. The junior competed with unprecedented toughness in the backcourt and was the perfect example of "defense creating offense." Singletary sparked an 8-3 run in the second quarter that left the home team trailing 15-19 at the half.

In the third quarter, the team demonstrated how prolific they can be when playing for and with one another. Maya Goree '18 dished out such absurd passes to Lexi Weger '18 that even the heads of the coaching staff were spinning. Hope Gray '17 registered two key steals to keep Maret at bay while teammate Kailyn Shepherd '18 recorded a team-high seven rebounds. Despite valiant effort in the closing minutes, Maret could not complete the comeback against the calm visitors. EHS danced away with a 41-30 victory.
