Varsity Girls Season Ends in Quarterfinals

Despite their exhaustion from playing five tough games in six days, the Maroon eagerly boarded the bus Wednesday afternoon to travel to Charlottesville, Va. for a VISAA Quarterfinal game against St. Anne's Belfield. The Saints were ranked #2 in the state and had only lost one contest on the year, but EHS looked forward to the challenge.
As predicted, STAB showcased why it was one of the top teams in the state very early in the contest. The Saints used their home court advantage to heat up offensively, registering 33 of their 64 points from three-point line. At halftime, the Maroon trailed 15-37, but they remained undeterred. EHS rallied in the third quarter and outscored the Saints 16-10, largely due to the shooting of Mary Ives Giblin '19, Haley Sabol '20, and Maya Thompson '20. However, the halftime deficit was too much to overcome in the final two quarters. Despite valiant efforts and tough play from Catie Wood '19, Dymin Gerow '20, and Lucy Dixon '21, the squad finally succumbed to STAB by a score of 64-42.
