Girls Varsity Bounces Back to Defeat St. John Paul The Great

With another quick turnaround, the team had an immediate opportunity to bounce back from Monday's loss, hosting John Paul the Great in the first round of the VISAA state tournament.
EHS used great ball movement and quick attacks to showcase their fluidity on offense, with four players contributing in the first eight minutesThree-pointers from Maya Thompson '20 and Haley Sabol '20 gave the home team an early advantage, while a Dymin Gerow '20 and-one further extended the lead. Despite finding chemistry on the offensive end, though, it took some time for Episcopal to find their defensive legs; the team found itself down 16-11 after the first quarter. In the second, EHS refocused and took advantage of their length and quickness to defensively frustrate the opponent. The home team was able to secure a marginal 25-23 lead at the half.

In the second half, the Maroon continued to pound the ball inside and convert free throws into points on offense. Mary Ives Giblin '19 managed two from the charity stripe and Hannah Boone '22 drained a critical three to give the team its final lead of the night. In its final home contest of the season, Episcopal earned a decisive 57-48 victory over John Paul the Great.
