Maroon Conquers Seton School

On Saturday afternoon, the team faced Seton School, the #3 team in VISAA Division 2.
Maya Thompson '20 opened up the scoring for EHS with a beautiful trifecta against Seton's zone. The Conquistadors immediately responded by demonstrating their offensive prowess. The visitors nailed six three pointers and held EHS scoreless in the final four minutes of the first quarter. In the blink of an eye, EHS was down 20-5 and in desperate need of a spark.

That spark came in the form of a 1-3-1 that the Conquistadors struggled to figure out. Haley Sabol '20 used her length and high basketball IQ to befuddle Seton's guards and force a slew of turnovers. Hot shooting by Sabol and Thompson helped chip away at the deficit, and the defense of Isabel Schneider '21 coupled with the rebounding of Lucy Dixon '21 limited Seton's offensive opportunities. After a 24-9 run in the second stanza, Episcopal had closed the gap and found themselves tied with their opponent 29-29.

In the second half, Sabol continued to dominate the interior of the zone while Dymin Gerow '20 used her quickness to finish from every location on the court. Nora Huffines '20 completely shut down Seton's main three-point threat, now allowing her to score for the rest of the contest. As the final seconds ticked away, EHS found themselves atop of a 55-43 win.
