Bullis Barely Beats Girls JV Basketball

Excitement was high as the girls JV basketball team played for the first time in Centennial this seson.
The first quarter proved a defensive battle as the fast paced game went up and down the court with little scoring. Lucy Hankins ’22 was the first to score, and the first quarter ended 2-5. Flora French ’21 caught fire in the second quarter and led the scoring with 6 points. Maya Taybron ’22 contributed 5 points, and tenacious defense and good footwork by Hadley Applegate ’22 and Elle Dorrian ’22 kept the team in the game.

While they may have set a record for the exhaustive length of the first half, the Maroon stepped onto the court in the second half with victory in mind. Ta’Miyah Alexander ’22, Lauren McAllister ’22, Landon O’Malley ’22 and Pem Pem Dorji ’22 were all instrumental in keeping the offensive flow alive as the girls began to settle the ball a bit more. Catherine MacKinnon ’21 and Olivia Shackelford ’21 were strong low posts with MacKinnon sticking 2 points in the third quarter. In the end, Bullis, but, in particular their very talented guard, proved too much for EHS, who lost 32-37.
