JV Basketball Opens Season With Win

The boys JV basketball team kicked off their season with a win against Georgetown Day School.
Coming off of Thanksgiving Break and one quick day of practice, the Maroon put in a solid and sustained effort to work through their early-season jitters and mistakes.  Collier Lilly '21 and Beck Goode '21 got things started on the offensive end with a number of transition buckets and offensive rebounds. Lilly, Goode, and Charlie Jackson '22 also knocked down three-pointers to give the Maroon a boost against the aggressive GDS defense. Though Georgetown Day managed to stay in the game with several three pointers as well, the Maroon went into halftime up by ten points, 31-21.

In the second half, EHS settled in and took control of the game with several controlled offensive series. The Maroon pulled away quickly in the second half—given a boost by James Greene’s '21 two 3-pointers. Charlie Jackson '22 led the way for the Maroon offensively in the second half, as he poured in 13 points, and Beck Goode continued to be a major presence on both offense and defense. Every member of the Maroon contributed in the second half, and, for the majority of the fourth quarter, EHS maintained a 20-point lead to come away with a win. The final score was 68-48.
