Biography:
Hugh, a native of Grand Rapids, Mich., graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2013, where he studied English and worked as a writing tutor and outdoor educator. After graduation, he worked as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant at the Bergen Katedralskole in Bergen, Norway, and then as an English teacher, crew coach, and founder of the Outdoor Leadership Series at Cape Henry Collegiate in Virginia Beach. He earned his Master's of Arts from the Middlebury Bread Loaf School of English in 2021.

At Episcopal, Hugh teaches English, coaches frisbee and basketball, and assists with Episcopal’s outdoor programming, in addition to advising freshman boys. He lives on campus with his wife, son, and their two cats..
