The excitement was palpable in Centennial Gymnasium on Tuesday evening as the girls' varsity basketball team prepared to celebrate Senior Night. Despite the electric atmosphere, though, the squad was focused on competing with HolyChild, ranked #17 in the DMV and #4 in the ISL.
Entering the Sidwell gymnasium Thursday evening, the team knew they'd need exemplary effort and focus to pull away with a victory. Not only were the Quakers ranked third in the ISL, but it was also Senior Night for the home team. Despite the circumstances, Episcopal was ready and excited to battle.
The girls varsity basketball team traveled to Georgetown Visitation for a brawl with the top team in the ISL. While the Cubs ultimately walked away with the win, there were many positives to be taken from the contest and the coaching staff was immensely proud of how each athlete competed until the final buzzer sounded.
The Maroon suited up against Georgetown Day School Friday evening and earned a convincing 46-29 win, their first divisional victory since moving up to the ISL AA.

Fresh off of final exams (and with only one full team practice in the last week), Episcopal opened up the Bullis Holiday Tournament with a fundamentally sound, athletic team from St. John's.

With only a handful of practices under their belt and facing an unknown opponent, the coaching staff was not sure what to expect from our first contest of the year. Within minutes of the opening tip, though, the team's palpable energy (and, in all likelihood, an excitement that we were finally competing again) fueled the entire team.
