Boys Varsity Basketball Season Update

The boys' varsity basketball team has been quite busy since our return from Winter Break. The team has played nine games since January 4, and we are at the midway point of the I.A.C. regular season. Our overall record is 11-7, 2-3 in I.A.C. league play. The team had terrific home wins against Landon and St. Albans in convincing fashion, and an incredible triple-overtime thriller against cross-town rival St. Stephen's & St. Agnes that ended in a loss for the Maroon by a score of 86-82. Our two road games against league opponents resulted in losses for EHS, but both games showed incredible promise for the second round of I.A.C. play. Georgetown Prep defeated the Maroon by a score of 67-55, and just last night the team fell to the league's current #1 team, Bullis, by one point, 65-64. The boys varsity basketball team is excited for their next match-up against the Landon Bears on Friday night.

The team has had great success outside of the league this January. After a home victory over The Heights School during the first week of school, the Maroon faced three VISAA opponents on the road. The team defeated Saint John Paul the Great (72-59), Woodberry Forest (55-41) and most recently Flint Hill (73-60). In the most recent VISAA Division I poll, Episcopal is ranked #5, and the team is preparing for another opportunity to compete in the Virginia State Basketball Tournament.
