Boys' Varsity Lacrosse Honors Seniors, Falls to SSSAS

The Maroon fell short of victory on Senior Day as the SSSAS Saints bounced back from Thursday's loss with a 13-10 win in the Hummel Bowl. Prior to the game, ten seniors were recognized for their contributions to the Episcopal lacrosse program over the last four years. Together, they combined to earn 25 varsity letters and six will continue their careers at the college level. Congratulations to these ten seniors:

#1 James Greene (Hobart College)
#3 Jake Crowley
#4 Bear White (Syracuse University)
#6 Jack Hines (Denison University)
#13 Stern Cohen
#19 Tyler Conklin (Loyola College)
#23 Thomas Gibert
#25 Lawson Laverty (Amherst College)
#29 Andrew Caslow (Cal Berkeley)
#34 Harris Mackay

The Saints jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead as the Maroon struggled to clear the ball leading to a couple of early goals for the visitors. The Maroon battled back to make it a 5-4 game at the end of the first quarter. The second and third quarters proved to be challenging for the home team as the Saints extended their lead to 11-5 heading into the fourth quarter.  The Maroon continued to play hard and made it closer in the fourth, but unfortunately fell short. Caulley Deringer '23 paced the offense with 6 points on the day and Jack Hines '21, James Greene '21 and Nate Kabiri '23 all chipped in at least two points as well. Victor Salcedo '22 continued his dominance at the faceoff X, winning 80% of the draws and picking up 13 ground balls. The loss drops the Maroon to 3-3 on the season with IAC rival Bullis up next on Thursday at home.
