Girls' varsity tennis continues winning streak

The girls' varsity tennis team competed — and defeated — Madeira on their home turf.
The team pulled away early on to win the match 6-1. The team continues their undefeated season with poise and dedication. Gracie Huges '19 returned to the #1 singles spot to annihilate her opponent 8-0. Her forehand had great whipping speed, and her serve had a combination of excellent pace and precise placement. Lily Schmactenberger '19 as the #2 singles played with excellent footwork, and her court sense allowed her to capitalize on capturing many points to gain an amazing win, 8-1. Lily Dolan '20 at the #3 singles spot had a beautiful and competitive match. Her concentration and critical thinking landed her a win, 8-4. Finally, Nora Huffines '20 moved her opponent with beautifully executed shots and came to net aggressively, allowing her a decisive win of 8-0.

Catherine Clark '21 and Lucy Williams '20 as the #1 doubles team played a tough match. Clark had one of her best performances all season. Her net game was aggressive and she had some excllent put-away shots. Williams was steady at the baseline and had a great approach volley. Eve Mazlish '21 and Lucy Peacock '21, the #2 doubles team, had moments of brilliance, but they struggled maintain their rhythm, ultimately losing 4-8. Cooper Redd '20 and Belle Broll '21 rounded out the doubles as the #3 players. They had a strong match with good shots. Broll had an awesome approach volley and Redd ran down every ball. The came away with a solid win 8-1. Lastly, the exhibition team of Caroline Davis '21 and Schuyler Moore '21 had a grand battle with many back-and-forth points. They walked away with the win, 6-4.
