It's A Victory for Varsity Maroon in Richmond

Despite ten grueling days of double sessions, long bus rides, and tough games, the team was eager to travel to Richmond for an important VISAA State contest against St. Catherine's.
From the moment the ball tipped, the Maroon demonstrated an incredible team toughness and selflessness that propelled them to an early lead. Lucy Dixon '21 notched the team's first field goal of the day off a beautiful offensive rebound and put-back, and this spark led to a conflagration that could not be contained by the Saints. Nora Huffines '20 used her quick first step and IQ to cause several turnovers in the half court while teammate Catie Wood '19 defended masterfully at the top of the zone. At the half, the Episcopal squad found themselves atop a 30-10 lead.

The third quarter was more of the same, as EHS continued to unleash a scoring barrage on the host team. The Maroon saw solid play from a number of players in this quarter, including fantastic boxouts from newcomers Lily Arasaratnam '21 and Britney Parkinson '21Isabel Schneider '21 used her athleticism to cause headaches for the Saints while Hannah Boone '22 pulled down critical rebounds on both ends. By the end of the 32 minute battle, the team was able to solidify a 50-34 road win.
