Maroon Falls Short of Flint Hill

The oys varsity basketball team faced the No. 10 Flint Hill Huskies.
Given Flint Hill's high ranking, the Maroon was ready for a tough road game against a quality opponent. The home team jumped out to an early lead in the game. After trailing 26-15 at the end of the first period, EHS began to use their match-up zone defense to counter the strong play from the Huskies’ 6’10” center. Episcopal began to fire on all cylinders, and the team’s transition offense and four made three-point field goals allowed them to mount a comeback. The game was tied at the half, 40-40.

The third quarter was evenly played by both teams, but the Huskies did find a way to score against the Maroon zone. At the end of three quarters of play, Episcopal trailed Flint Hill 56-55. Both teams began to find their offensive rhythm once again in the fourth quarter. The Huskies found a way to take a lead, but EHS continued to find an answer. However, down the stretch, some timely perimeter jumpers made by the home team combined with a few costly turnovers from the Maroon allowed Flint Hill to control the final minute of the game. As the final buzzer sounded, Episcopal fell to Flint Hill 85-81. EHS is now 4-2 on the season.
