JV Girls Basketball Falls to St. Andrew's (MD)

The JV Girls’ Basketball squad took to the court against a mixed JV/Varsity St. Andrew’s team.
It started as a defensive battle in the first quarter as the Lions were held to only six points. Olivia Shackelford ’21 scored the first point for the Maroon – a beautiful free throw as a result of being strong under the basket. Lucy Hankins ’22 quickly hit another to keep the game close. St. Andrew’s found a bit of a groove in their transitions to offense which made for a challenge come halftime, but after a fiery pep talk by the coaches, the team was primed to make their comeback.

Pem Pem Dorji ’22Maya Taybron ’22Hadley Applegate ’22Catherine MacKinnon ’21Elle Dorrian '22, and Lauren McAllister ’22 made impressive defensive plays that, at times, would not allow the Lions to even inbound the ball, while Ta’Miyah Alexander ’22 and Landon O’Malley ’22 showed strength in protecting the ball on offense. Flora French ’21 hit a sweet little hook shot to end the game. In the end, the High School lost 10-38.
