Boys Junior Wins First Game in Season

The boys' junior basketball team earned a win in their season opener yesterday against St. John Paul the Great.
The game was highlighted by standout performances from Boots Giblin '22 with 18 points, Thomas Peacock '22 with 12 points, and Graham Riddle '22 with 11 points. The final score was Episcopal 46 and St. John Paul the Great 32, bringing their record to 1-0.
 
The tension was high as many were playing in the first official basketball game of their career. As a result, the Maroon forced a lot of bad shots and were plagued with unforced turnovers. The first half was evenly matched and the score tied as the boys headed into the locker room.
 
The team's energy and enthusiasm entering the 3rd quarter was high but unfortunately translated into a number personal fouls as they tried to reign in and control their aggression. By the end of the third quarter, the Maroon had fallen behind by 3 points. Fortunately, the team exploded in the 4th outscoring their opponents by 19 points and finishing with a nearly half-court swish by Riddle.
