Episcopal faced the Woodberry Forest School on Saturday, January 13 at home.
The Maroon won the tip-off but missed their first shot. The Tigers played strong defense and offense, dominating the first quarter and holding EHS scoreless. The Maroon fought back in the second quarter, and the offense moved with a better flow. Jason Gibson '21 played solid defense and offense. He scored six points. Stern Cohen '21 put up a nice jumper for two, and Jack Hines '21 converted a technical foul into a basket to close out the first half.
Episcopal won the second quarter 9-4, and was down by a score of 18-9 at halftime. Unfortunately, the team was not able to build on their second quarter momentum and only scored four points in the third quarter. Cohen hit a nice jumper, and Kartik Singh '20 converted a layup for two points. Woodberry led the game by a score of 27-13 going into the fourth. The quarter started off slow, but the pace picked up after a flurry of turnovers. Jackson Bauer '21 scored a nice layup to kick the quarter off in the right direction. Singh and Gibson followed with buckets and Bauer drained a three to cut the Tiger’s lead to seven points. Unfortunately, the game slipped away in the final two minutes with two quick threes by the Tigers. The final score was 39-24 Woodberry Forest.
