Girls Varsity Tennis Falls to Potomac in State Tournament
The girls varsity tennis team fell to a strong Potomac squad 1-8.
The panthers were regular season ISL champs and 3rd seed in the tournament. Very strong at the top of their ladder and solid throughout, Potomac ended our seasoned and advanced to the final four. The Maroon squad fought hard, but we came away with only one win. Lilly Schmachtenberger ’19 and Lilly Whitner ’19 won their doubles match at #2 in the different state 6/3 format. All of the team got a final match in, and although we took the loss, we can feel good about the season we had. More wins (11) and a stronger finish in the conference (tied for 4th) than last year, and with no seniors on the team, we are looking forward to next year!
