Potomac Overtakes Maroon in Final Game of Season
Despite the energy at the beginning of the match, the Girls' Varsity Soccer team fell to a powerhouse at Potomac.
The battle for control of the match was focused in the midfield, and Potomac was able to change the point of attack numerous times. A quickly shifting EHS back line repelled several attacks and the only goal of the first half came from a set piece corner kick play. In the second half of play, EHS midfielders Kyara McDowell '19 and Logan Tyler '19 showed grit in their relentless pressure on the ball. The confident and skilled home side was able to tally two more goals that did not extinguish the fire of the the Maroon squad.
With under 10 minutes left, the visiting side persisted, making dangerous runs into the Potomac final third. At the whistle, the score held 3-0. EHS closed their season with this hard fought match. Of note are the efforts and leadership of this year's senior class of Isabelle Holt '18, Mary Peeples '18, Sophie Singletary '18, and Lilly Wilcox '18. Their hard work and dedication to EHS soccer supported another historic season for the High School.
