Field Hockey Overcomes Single STAB Wound 3-1
The Maroon hosted St. Anne’s-Belfield School for a Saturday afternoon matchup on Greenway Field.
The first half started out slowly for Episcopal as they struggled to find an offensive rhythm. STAB looked to take advantage early but the Maroon defense held the visitors without an offensive corner throughout the first half.
With renewed energy and drive, EHS came out in the second half determined to put some points on the board. Caroline Ullrich ‘20 got the Maroon scoring started off an assist from Jonesy Wilbanks ‘19. A few minutes later, Wilbanks added to the lead with a goal of her own with an assist from Olivia Sokol ‘19.
Episcopal continued to put heavy offensive pressure on the visitors but wasn’t able to find the back of the cage. STAB took advantage of an opportunity to cut into the lead with five minutes remaining. Eleanor Winants ‘18 answered for the Maroon off an offensive corner, with Wilbanks again providing the assist. Halsey Ziglar ‘19 finished the game with 6 saves.
EHS secured the 3-1 victory over STAB.
