SSSAS Takes Field Hockey Win in Seminary Hill Cup
The Maroon went up against the Saints in the 10th Annual Seminary Hill Cup.
The first half featured even play, with the Saints coming out on the attack and putting one in the back of the net five minutes in. The Maroon answered quickly a few minutes later, with Eleanor Winants '18 scoring on a corner with the assist from Erin Phillips '18. The rest of the first half was a back-and-forth game with opportunities for both sides.
Coming out of halftime with the score 1-1, Episcopal sought to further put pressure on the Saints with their impressive efforts in all phases of the game. After many offensive attempts, Winants put the Maroon ahead, tallying her second goal of the game. The Saints were eager to tie things back up and with a little over a minute remaining in the game, they did just that.
In overtime, both teams had little opportunity for scoring as the play was concentrated in the middle of the field. After about three minutes, the Saints got the victory on a shot from the right side of the circle. The Maroon defensive corner crew did not allow a goal on fourteen opportunities for the Saints. Halsey Ziglar '19 finished the game with seven saves.
