Varsity Field Hockey Stops Sidwell on Home Turf
The team's victory puts them at 5-0 in ISL play.
The Maroon opened up the week with a game against visiting Sidwell Friends School on Tuesday afternoon. EHS started the scoring with a goal from Eleanor Winants '18 just five minutes into the half. A few minutes later, Olivia Sokol '19 got the ball at midfield and got past thedefense and added to the lead for the Maroon. Mary Ives Giblin '19 finished off the first half scoring with a shot from the top of the circle.
The second half started with EHS determined to keep their composure and continue to put pressure on the visitor’s defense. Winants scored her second goal of the day and Janie Stillwell '18 followed up with a goal of her own a few minutes later, off an assist from Giblin. The Maroon kept the pressure on and Giblin finished off the scoring for the day with about 15 minutes remaining in the game.
EHS faces league rival St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School in the Seminary Hill Cup on Friday, October 13th at 4:00 pm.
