The EHS squad had a challenging day on the road as they faced WCAC powerhouse Bishop McNamara on Friday. The match opened up with the home side quickly tallying the first goal of the contest within the first 2 minutes. As both teams engaged in a physical battle, the EHS back line was able to thwart multiple runs in to the defensive third. EHS eventually succumbed to the persistent pressure and took on two more goals before the half.
The team stepped on to the pitch with a renewed vigor and toughness that stunned the home side at times. Striker Kyara McDowell '19 showed great tenacity with first and second ball challenges that sparked more offensive runs into the McNamara defensive third. In the 60th minute, midfielder Sophie Singletary '18 emerged from a scramble in the home side's box and skillfully lobbed a ball into the top right corner. McNamara continued to make relentless attacks on goal to the final whistle. Although this turned out to be a tough defeat for EHS, there were several examples of solid play from defenders Alli Boehm '20 and Claire Boehm '20, as well as from midfielders Selam Gebru '19 and Neely Holt '20.
