The Maroon sprang off to a fast start with a first-minute goal by Michael Grogan '19. EHS built to a 2-0 lead before Prep answered back with two of their own to end the first quarter. EHS played disciplined ball-control offense against one of the league’s best defenses. The midfield, led by Brandon Williams '17 (2,1) controlled led the EHS to a 4-3 lead at half. The game opened up in the second half and both teams played staunch defense for long stretches. Prep put together a few more productive possession than EHS despite the solid man-to-man efforts of Thorn Wilbanks '17, Kaal Griffith '17, Jack Kelly '19, and Duncan Trau '17. Prep took a 6-5 lead into the fourth quarter and would not relinquish the lead. The fourth quarter was filled with frenetic ground ball scrambles, opportunistic rides, near misses, hit pipes, and plenty of opportunities for EHS to even the score, but when the dust cleared Prep was able to outlast the Maroon and held on for a defensive victory.
