Boys' JV Soccer Outduels Knights to 3-0 Victory
The Boys Junior Varsity soccer team earned a 3-0 shutout victory in their home opener versus Bishop O'Connell High School.
The Maroon scored early. Five minutes into the game, a crisp pass from the left sideline by Thomas Grier '20, a part of a series of give-and-go's, resulted in a beautiful goal from Jinsoo Kim '19. Ben Lett '18 led the back line, organizing the defense, and preventing any serious attacking chances from Bishop O'Connell.
Rory Bracken '19 notched three saves in the first half. Miles Thompson '18 played created a few scoring opportunities, and Jack Somer displayed outstanding hustle. A near-second goal was called offsides at 13:30 in the first half. In the second half, The High School continued to pressure and put forth a good attack. Four minutes into the half, Jinsoo Kim '19 played a through ball to Collin Hwang '19 who then passed to Michael Grogan '19, who netted another goal.
There were lots of personnel changes in the second half and everyone played a role in the win. Thomas Williamson '19 had an excellent scoring chance that was saved by the O'Connell keeper.Collin Fitzpatrick '19, recorded three saves during the second half. The defense was lead in part by solid play from Ryan Grajewski.
The third and final goal of the match was scored by Cole Wise '19 after receiving a generous well-played ball from the midfield by Michael Grogan '19.
