Boys Varsity Basketball Trounces Collegiate Cougars

Episcopal played host to the Virginia Challenge. This "bracket-buster" event matched up four teams from Northern Virginia against four teams from the Virginia Prep League.
Episcopal competed against the Collegiate School from Richmond, the No. 4-ranked team in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association, who came in to the contest with a record of 17-2. EHS set the tone early with their transition offense and a commitment to defense. The Cougars found themselves in a hole early, but they scratched and clawed their way back in to the game. EHS did a great job sharing the ball on offense, and some early points in the paint opened up some good looks from the outside. Episcopal led at the break by a score of 37-26. The third quarter was pretty even basketball until Collegiate took control in the final couple of minutes. The Cougars were able to cut the lead to three points heading in to the final eight minutes of play. In the fourth quarter, it was Episcopal's turn to make a strong run. The Maroon seemed to click in all phases of the game in the final period, and the team built their largest lead of the game. Episcopal defeated Collegiate by a final score of 70-54.
