Maroon Defeats St. Catherine's

The Marooon faced a formidable VISAA foe in St. Catherine's on Saturday.
The team vowed to recommit to all the "little things" that made them successful in previous contests: defense, rebounding, and quick inside-outside movement on offense. This decision proved valuable, as the team sprinted out to an early 14-5 lead. Seniors Maya Goree '18 and Lexi Weger '18 led the charge, not only converting shots in the half court, but getting others involved in the process. Sophie Singletary '18 dished out five assists in the first half, and Kailyn Shepherd '19 was a force on the perimeter, making decisive drives at key moments that befuddled St. Catherine's defense.

In the second half, the visitors staged a formidable comeback, but Episcopal answered with mental toughness and poise. Ryan Shepherd '21 was a calming presence at the helm of the offense, finding moments to attack the rim and finish tough layups with contact. Mary Ives Giblin '19 was a strong defensive presence, closing out on potent shooters and diving on the ground for loose balls to spark momentum for the Maroon. Erin Phillips '18 pulled down key rebounds at critical moments in the second half and offered toughness in the paint on both ends. By the end of the contest, EHS found themselves on the winning end of a 61-44 victory against a very strong opponent!
