Boys Junior Basketball Fall on Landon's Turf
The Episcopal boy’s junior basketball team tipped off against the Landon School on Thursday, January 11.
The away game was fast-paced, and the Maroon put forth their highest-scoring game of the season. The Bears played tough on both sides of the court, and were up by a score of 16-7 at the end of the first quarter. Jack Hines '21 kicked things in the right direction with a beautiful three-pointer off the glass. Kartik Singh '20 and Stern Cohen '21 followed with nice jump-shots.
The second quarter proved a similar story. Landon's offense was too much to handle. Maroon lost the quarter by a score 14-8, and was down 30-15 going into the second half. Hines shot another three, and Cohen showed strong play, draining a jumper and hitting a three. Maroon closed the gap a little in the third quarter. Cohen hit two awesome threes, and Jackson Bauer '21 hit a nice jumper for two points.
EHS lost the quarter by a score of 12-8, and the Bears led by a score of 42-23 going into the final quarter. Bauer continued to contribute scoring two off a nice layup. Jason Gibson '21 joined in with four points, Cohen scored four, and SS Singh '21 drained a free throw. The Bears won the fourth quarter 15-11, and the game, with a final score of 57-34.
