The Episcopal boys' varsity basketball team opened the new year with a victory over Saint John Paul the Great last night. After a two-week break, and just two days of practice, Episcopal definitely faltered from fatigue and miscues on both the offensive and defensive end.
The visiting Wolves shot the ball very well from beyond the three-point arc throughout the game, and each time the Maroon were able to push their advantage to double digits, Saint John Paul the Great found a way to fight back and trim the lead. Our opponents deserve a great deal of credit as they continued to work hard from start to finish, and in the final quarter they made a terrific run to cut the Maroon lead to just four points. Episcopal relied on some strong individual plays in the final few minutes of the game to seal the victory.
