Second Comeback Effort Falls Short for GVS

EHS faced ISL A division leader Georgetown Day School in an a Parents' Weekend match up on Hoxton Field.
EHS Goals: I. Holt'18:1, A. Boehm '20: 1
EHS Assists: Singletary '18: 2
EHS Saves: Moss '19: 6

Much like the prior match versus Visitation, the first half was a defensive battle that challenged both teams to gain control of the game under a beautiful fall sky. GDS unleashed a flurry of 3 goals in 10 minutes at the opening of the second half. With a relaxed approach to the match after gaining a solid lead, the visiting side took control of the midfield.

The match was far from over when Isabelle Holt '18 willed the ball into the back of the net after winning a 50/50 challenge with the GDS goalkeeper. The home side was inspired by her efforts and turned up the intensity to follow up with a powerful volley goal by Alli Boehm '20 off of a ball fed by Sophie Singletary '18.

With the final minutes looming, EHS continued to power through the GDS defense with several attempts on net. This final surge was a valiant effort on all parts, but EHS was unable to convert their chances, leaving the score at 3-2. Other notable performances include Claire Boehm '20, defender Millie Pettegrew '20, and Logan Tyler '19.

This match marks the end of the regular season. The EHS Girls' Varsity soccer program seized the 5th spot in the division, and they take on Georgetown Visitation in the first round of the ISL AA post-season tournament next Wednesday 11/1/17.
