Philips OT Goal Seals Victory for Maroon

The Maroon hosted ISL opponent Holton-Arms on Greenway Field on Friday afternoon.
EHS looked to get ahead early and limit offensive opportunities for the visitors.

The Panthers set the tone of the game early, with the Maroon trying to find their footing and match the intensity of their opponent. The Maroon got on the board first, with Eleanor Winants ‘18 scoring off an offensive penalty corner opportunity. EHS held the Panthers for the remainder of the half and looked to increase their intensity after halftime.

Coming into the second half, Holton-Arms were striving to answer with a goal of their own and put pressure on the Maroon. About eight minutes in, the Panthers got a breakaway and tied up the game. The play was evenly matched throughout the rest of regulation. The Maroon had a chance to end the game when they earned a penalty corner as time expired but couldn’t find the back of the cage.

In overtime, it was all EHS from the start. They were determined to get the victory and Erin Phillips ‘18 scored the game-winner after a scrum in front the goal. Halsey Ziglar ‘19 finished the day with five saves.

Episcopal won the game 2-1 and finished the season with an 8-3 record in ISL play. They host St. Catherine’s School on Saturday, October 28th at 1:30 pm in their last regular season game.
