Girls Varsity Soccer Beats Maret in Second Closeout Game of the Week

The final match of a three-game week held a significant challenge as the GVS squad travelled to Maret for a match on their homecoming weekend.
The home side came out fired up, with skillful determination as EHS was able to fend off several opening drives to goal. After adjusting to the field and crowd size, EHS found their rhythm in the 6th minute when midfielder Lindsey Harrison '19 connected with Isabelle Holt '18 for the first of her two goals. The second tally of the match came 20 minutes later when Sophie Singletary '18 fed a lead pass through the Maret back line to Holt, who controlled with a first touch and fired a decisive volley into the home net. The second half was highlighted by a spectacular set of saves by goalkeeper Lindy Moss '19 who kept EHS on firm ground with a two-goal lead. Both teams continued to be dangerous throughout the final minutes, and Maret still attacked the EHS back line with energy and speed to the final whistle. At the end of the match, the entire GVS squad looked back on their three-game week with pride and inspiration moving on to the last weeks of the season.

EHS is at home versus ISL AA side Georgetown Visitation on Tuesday, Oct. 24, for a final regular season divisional match and an opportunity for three more points in the league table.
