Maroon Falls to Potomac in First Round of Tournament
Episcopal High School Boys Varsity Soccer hosted Potomac School in the opening round of the Maroon and Black Invitational Cup on Friday afternoon. The Maroon fell to a talented and disciplined Potomac team by the score of 2-0. Potomac’s excellent possession frustrated the Episcopal boys, who got away from their game plan after about fifteen minutes. Potomac scored in the sixteenth minute when they capitalized on a turnover in the EHS half and they added the second and final goal before halftime. Episcopal played with greater intensity and spirit in the second half, but they never showed their true potential in this match. The highlight for the Maroon was the strong play of goalkeepers Tyler Conklin '21 and Ransdell McCaulley ’20.
With the victory, Potomac advances to play in the tournament championship against Norfolk Academy (who scored a 3-0 win over St. Anne’s Belfield), while EHS and STAB compete for third place on Saturday.
