The team had their first loss of the 2017 season to Collegiate by a final score of 10-11 in overtime. Fresh off the heels of the first state rankings, No. 3 ranked Episcopal traveled to Richmond to take on No. 4 ranked Collegiate. After a number of rain delays, the teams were able to start the game around 6 p.m. and it was a fight from the start. The teams would trade goals early but Collegiate score two goals back-to-back to take a 4-2 lead in the first half. Episcopal would answer back with a goal of their own, and scored with 13 seconds left in the half, but Collegiate held the slight advantage as they entered the halftime break up 5-4. Collegiate would come out strong in the second half to score four goals in the opening 6 minutes of the half to take a commanding 9-4 lead with 19:21 left in the game. The Maroon have focused on being relentless and resilient this season, however, and they went to work as they held Collegiate scoreless for the next 15 minutes while scoring three goals of their own. With 5:35 left on the clock, EHS called a timeout as they found themselves down 7-10 with time starting to running out. Episcopal surged out of the time out to send the game in overtime by winning the draw, forcing Collegiate to turn over the ball and scoring goals at 1:51, 1:10 and :51. Collegiate would go on to win the opening draw, transition the ball down to our defensive end where they were fouled, and finished the play for the win in overtime.
