Several First-Timers Compete for EHS Cross-Country Teams
On a soggy Saturday morning, the EHS Cross Country team ran their first race of the season at the Bullis Invitational in Potomac, MD.
The team ran well and several runners set personal best and course best times.
Tre Simmons '20, Ben Korkowski '19, Chineme Agulanna '20, Chris Denning '19, and Scout Zhou '20 all ran significantly faster in this race than they had during the early 2017 season. Rob Deaton '20 and Andrew Kraut '20 also ran strong steady races to contribute to team scoring. The varsity boys finished 7th and the junior varsity boys finished 8th.
Regan Simmons '21, Charlotte Breckenridge '20, Esther Kim '20, Karen Zhang '20, Arabella Dixon '21, Jahsaiah Moses '19, and Shaunjaney Bryan '19 all ran well and impressed the coaches with their toughness on the course. The varsity girls finished 5th and the junior varsity girls finished 3rd.
Top finishers on the day were Liza Gregory (22:48.9 / 10th / Varsity) and Tre Simmons (17:51.7 / 9th / Varsity).
James Dixon '19, Parker Driscoll '19, and Justin Yi '21 ran their first cross-country race for the boys team, while Isabelle Bechtel '20, Karla Domingues '20, Cindy Xin '20, Lucy Monsted '22, Addie McElveen '21, and Liza Gregory '21 ran their first races for the girls team.
