The girls varsity softball team picked up another AA Division win on Tuesday against Holton-Arms. Despite a few errors by the defense in the 3rd and 4th innings, the girls were able to string several key hits together to score the runs needed to win. Their bats came alive in the first inning when they put 5 runs on the board. They would score 3 more runs in the 4th inning and then six runs in the 5th to end the game 14-3.
Pitcher Tiffany Stowers '20 was on the mound, racking up 10 strike outs and only allowed two hits. Catcher Barrett Carney ’19 was a wall behind the plate and allowed no pass balls to get by her in the entire game. Nicole Carino ’19, Natasha Wanjiru ’20, and Halsey Ziglar ’19 each had one hit in the game, co-captains Judy Liu ’18 and Lilly Wilcox ’18 each had two hits; Madi Register ’18 and Tiffany Stowers ’20 had three hits each. Carney also put down a well-placed sacrifice bunt to move a runner into scoring position. Stowers, Lilly Wilcox ’18, and Ziglar each had three RBIs in the game, Register had two RBIs, and Kayla Murphy ’18 and Wanjiru each had one RBI. The girls did an awesome job working together to put runners on base and string together hits to score their teammates.
