Boys Varsity Lacrosse Loses to Paul VI
The boys varsity lacrosse team lost to Paul VI by a final score of 13-10.
The Maroon started off well in the first quarter as goals by Ricky Miezan '18, Jack Lee '20, and Finlay MacKnight '20 gave the Maroon a 3-2 advantage. Matt Berendsen '18 and Will Cory'19 added goals in the last two minutes of the first half to even the game at 5 at the intermission. Miles Thompson '18 and the defense played a strong first half, limiting a talented PVI offense.
The third quarter was dominated by PVI as they increased their lead to 9-6. Ground balls (EHS won only 39% of GB's on the day) and unforced turnovers plagued the Maroon over the course of the game and particularly in the momentum changing third quarter. EHS cut the lead to 10-9 early in the fourth quarter, but PVI was able to get a few late goals as the Maroon defense had to press out to create a turnover. Chad Calderwood '20 had a nice game at the face-off X. The loss drops the team's record to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in VISAA play.
