Saints Defeat Maroon

The boys junior basketball team tipped off against St. Stephens on Thursday afternoon.
St. Stephens came out strong in the first quarter. The Saints showed aggressive play and dominant offense. Maroon struggled to keep up with the pace, and struggled with turnovers. Jason Gibson '21 generated Maroon’s four points for the quarter.

The team bounced back in the second quarter and showed livelier play. The game was much more closely contested. Gibson started the quarter off with an early bucket, and Jackson Bauer '21 had his biggest quarter of the season. He had a nice drive to the hole, a three pointer, and sank both free throws. St. Stephens won the quarter by a score of 11-9, and the half-time score was St. Stephens 31, Episcopal 13.

The team slumped in the third quarter. The boys struggled to generate offense. Andrew Caslow '21 scored the team’s lone bucket of the quarter. St. Stephens continued to compete, and outscored Maroon 15-2. They led the game by a score of 46-15 at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter was more of the same. EHS showed flurries of hope here and there, but the Saints remained formidable. Bauer was strong in the fourth quarter, scoring seven points, and Jack Hines joined in with two. The Saints won the fourth quarter 11-9. The final score was 57-24, St. Stephens.
