The JV boys travelled to Bullis for the second league game of the week.
The Maroon played tough defense through all four quarters of the low-scoring contest. Particularly in the first half, EHS challenged shots and made it difficult for the Bulldogs to get anything going on offense. It wasn’t easy going on the offensive end for the Maroon either, but Max Gregory '21 knocked down three 3-pointers and John Boyles '20 hit two from behind the arc as well to help put the Maroon up at the half, 21-12.
At halftime, EHS knew that Bullis would adjust and start hitting shots, but the Maroon still emerged from the locker room a little unprepared for the Bulldogs. In the opening minutes of the second half, Bullis completely flustered Episcopal with defensive pressure that led to a flurry of turnovers and points for the Bulldogs. After quickly erasing the Maroon’s nine-point lead, it remained a tight game for the duration of the second half.
EHS eventually adjusted to the Bulldog pressure, but they had to fight hard for every bucket. Boyles repeatedly drove to the hoop and kept the game close with tough finishes and a few free throws. However, down the stretch, Bullis repeatedly found a way to get loose balls and second shots while the Maroon struggled to make shots on the offensive end. Despite putting forth a solid effort throughout the game, Episcopal couldn’t pull out a win.
