Records Fall as Boys & Girls Track and Field win team titles at Maroon & Black Relays

The girls 4 x 800-meter relay team started off the day with a convincing win in the event, smashing a record that has held since 2005, by 10 seconds.   Claire Boehm ‘20 took it to the field on the very first leg and Alli Boehm '20, Paige Hathaway '18 and Taylor Redd '18 brought home the win for the Maroon and a new school record.

SPRINTERS GET THE JOB DONE
Two second place finishes in the 55-meters from Nina Moore '20 and Jamall Mensah '20 for solid team points highlighted the sprint events. Newcomer Barry Curtis '19 had the fastest 200m split on the day for the Boys 4 x 200-meter relay that had a dramatic 1st place finish as well. Veteran Elijah Gaines '20 was tapped to take the anchor leg and after a trip and fall was able to gain his composure and hold off a fast closing St Stephen’s & St Agnes team to take top spot. Litchfield Ajavon '19 went 2-0 in the fieldhouse winning his preliminary heat of the 55-meter hurdles on his way to clinching first place in the event in the final. Salim Turner-Muhammad '19 has put in the hard work this season and ran a personal best time in the 55-meters to take 4th place in the event as well.

DISTANCE RUNNERS GET FASTER AND FASTER
The distance contingent of the Maroon squad put in some top performances on Cathcart Track. Alli Boehm '20 ran a personal best time in the 800m followed by Paige Hathaway '18 who put in her best time over 800-meters indoors. Charlotte Breckenridge '20 had a strong day anchoring the Sprint Medley Relay with her fastest time in the 800-meters and Edward Powers '21 had a strong debut for the Maroon over 800-meters.

MULTI TASKING SPECIALIST
Brianna Williams ’18 placed second in the 55-Meter Hurdles and Long Jump and took first place in the High Jump in a personal best height to amass 26 total points for the team enroute to the team title in the Maroon & Black Relays.

NEWCOMER ALERT !
Carmela Ribadeneira '21 had a remarkable day gaining team points in the High Jump and Triple Jump events. Sydney Lewis '19 has had a few practices in the Shot Put and scored valuable team points. Alex de Casteja '20 and Wyatt Singletary '20 combined in the Sprint Medley Relay with performances that caught the coaches eye in their debut race. Janil Cohen '21 has been steadily establishing herself as one of The Maroon’s strong young sprinters and represented herself well in the 55-meter and relay events.

EHS THROW DOWN IN THE SHOT PUT.
Max Meyer '20 and Patrick Zhu '20 were separated by 1 inch and took 1st and 2nd place in the Shot Put event.

The Girls 4 x 200-meter team established themselves as one of the top sprint crew’s in the state, taking the 4 x 200m relay and returned with a season best time in the 4 x 400-meter event. The boys followed suit with the performance of the day to run a #1 ranked time in the 4 x 400-meter relay event. Freshman Zeddy Williams '21 got the team off to a solid start in a competitive first leg. Long sprint specialist James Dixon '19 had a personal best time over the two laps to hand off to Sam Kamara '19 who eased his way around the track neck and neck with The Potomac School. Jack Lee '20 took the baton and put in a scintillating leg to run away from Potomac, stopping the clock at 3:33.88.
