Boys Varsity BBall Wins First Round of Tournament

The Episcopal Boys’ Basketball Team finished with a record of 2-1 in the Bullis Holiday Tournament, and the team now has an overall record of 8-1 as we head in to the Holiday Break. It was an exciting weekend of basketball, and the team performed very well after a tough week of exams.
Episcopal’s first opponent was the Westtown School from Pennsylvania. Westtown has an impressive roster of talent, and several of their top players have earned scholarships and multiple offers from Power 5 Conference schools. It was a great early test for the Maroon, and one they passed with flying colors! The story of the game was Episcopal’s defense, which forced Westtown in to a couple of first quarter timeouts as they struggled to score. EHS was also hitting on all cylinders on the offensive end, and at the conclusion of the first half Episcopal led by a score of 40-21.

EHS started the second half very well, pushing the lead to 28 points, but Westtown was too talented to ever feel comfortable with a large lead. EHS began to falter a bit on the defensive end, and Westtown outscored the Maroon in the third period 22-21. Fortunately, Episcopal continued to play well on offense, so they mantined an 18-point lead heading in to the final quarter of the game. The game continued to be a back-and-forth affair in the fourth period, but the Maroon remained steady and was able to maintain the lead. As the final buzzer sounded, Episcopal defeated Westtown 82-62 to advance to the tournament semifinals.
