Boys Junior Basketball Couldn't Fight off Friends

The boys junior basketball team opened the season against Sidwell Friends on Friday, December 1.
The Maroon led after the first quarter of play 9-5. Stern Cohen '21 drained an awesome three-pointer. Jason Gibson '21 pulled three defensive boards, a nice offensive layup, and one free throw. At 6' 4'', Kartik Singh '21 showed promise in the offensive paint with two points and a made free throw.

The action slowed in the second quarter and the Maroon struggled to generate offense. Thomas Gibert '21 drained a three-pointer, but Maroon was outscored 5-3 in the second quarter and down by one at the half.

The team picked up the pace in an exciting third quarter. Max Wriedt '21, dropped a big three. Jason Gibson '21 scored four, and Gibert and Singh both scored two. Gibson pulled three successive offensive boards at the end of the third quarter, keeping the play alive, and setting up Wriedt for his three, to tie the game at 23.

Unfortunately, Maroon's production dropped in the fourth, and the team struggled to generate offense and handle the full court press. Jack Hines '21, scored three, and Jackson Bauer '21, scored two, but the team was outscored 10-5.
