Girls' Varsity Tennis Falls to Sidwell in ISL Tournament

The girls varsity tennis team finished the regular season tied for 4th place in the powerful ISL AA division.
The random drawing of tied teams found us playing 5-2 Sidwell at their place instead, and with little time to regroup from parents weekend, Sidwell made us pay. They started off strong and continued to play high quality, error free tennis. We fought hard and competed well, but Sidwell always seemed to have an answer when we were coming back. In the closest match of the day, Lilly Schmachtenberger ’19  dropped a very well played match 10-8 at #2 singles. Sam Fanning ’19  and Eve Mazlish ’21 also came close with a 7-10 contest.

Sam Fanning ’19  / Eve Mazlish ’21 7-10 L

Overall, the ISL AA season was one of our strongest in a few years. 4th place in this very talented conference is something we are proud of. The season may be over, but the tournaments are not. Varsity Tennis will play in the Virginia state tournament next week, for which they are currently ranked 6th.
