On a beautiful fall day, EHS took on the visiting Bullis School AA division squad in what turned out to be an exciting battle. Multiple scoring opportunities presented themselves for both teams at all points in the match. EHS was challenged by a strong offense immediately after the opening whistle and the midfield struggled with holding down the visiting attack for the first 30 minutes.
Sophie Singletary '18 opened up the score with a shot to the upper 90 after receiving a pass from the flank by Neely Holt '20. The home side was able to keep the momentum going to the halftime whistle with 1-0 lead.
Nineteen minutes in to the second half, a well-crafted combination developed on the left flank by Arden Faires '19 allowed EHS to drive deeply into the Bullisdefensive third. In a true team effort, Caroline Garrard '20 was able to take the final link of the passing sequence and feed a ball to Isabelle Holt '18 in front of the net for a second tally.
Bullis took control in the last 20 minutes of the gamewith a surge and later goal putting the victory in jeopardy. With determination, the EHS back four was able to repel repeated attacks and close calls to hold on to the victory for 3 points in the ISL AA division. Exceptional play was seen by the defensive unit of Lindy Moss '19, Lilly Wilcox '18, Trudy Holmes '19, Claire and Ali Boehm '20.
