Varsity Tennis Takes Down Bullis
The team traveled to Potomac to take on Bullis in a AA ISL contest.
The Maroon girls got some revenge from last year's loss with a solid 6-1 victory on a cool but beautiful afternoon. The team got off to strong starts in most of the matches, and went on to take three out of the four singles matches, with Lilly Schmachtenberger ’19, Lily Dolan ’20 and Lilly Whitner ’19 giving the Maroon wins.
The doubles teams would all bring home wins, but each took different paths. Nora Huffines ’20 and Catherine Clark ’21 got down early before they fought back to win, Sam Fanning ’19 and Eve Mazlish ’21 led from the start and never looked back, while Maddie Blalock ’19 and Olivia Armfield ’20 went the distance to win the final doubles match in a tiebreak. A great win for the team, which puts them at 3-3 in the AA division, and 9-4 overall.
