Girls JV Soccer Falls to Stone Ridge

The girls' JV soccer team traveled to Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart for its first away game of the season.
With several players still recovering from injuries, the squad embraced the daunting challenge of taking on a deep and talented opponent. All 13 available players stepped up to collectively hold the Gators to just one early goal in the first half, with a series of great performances from 9th graders highlighting the day. Freshmen Britney Parkinson '21 and Maggie Hulkower '21 displayed admirable tenacity at the outside back and center back roles respectively, while classmates Amy John-Terry '21, Arianna Otoo '21 , and Heidi Kaplan '21 made a strong statement in midfield.

JV soccer veterans Cecilia Moore '20, Alison Duenas '20, and Nina Moore '20 anchored a defensive effort that contained the hosts to just a one-goal lead on the scoreboard at halftime. Their efforts, along with those of Hulkower and Parkinson, supported sophomore goalkeeper Dymin Gerow in a tremendous effort that ultimately led to a total of 21 saves throughout the game. Ultimately, the Maroon fell victim to a late offensive surge from the Gators that earned the hosts a convincing 5-0 victory.

Though much of the game was a defensive battle for the Maroon, juniors Nicole Carino '19, Sol Ahn '19, and Emma Cunningham-Bradshaw '19 and sophomore Charlotte Joyner '20 were among those who helped to generate a handful of dangerous offensive opportunities for EHS.
