The Maroon traveled to St. John’s College High School on Thursday afternoon. The game was fast-paced from the start, with both teams moving the ball and playing strong defense.
St. John’s opened the scoring with a goal just over ten minutes into the game. The Cadets then caught the Maroon off-guard and added to their lead two minutes later. EHS was able to put some pressure on the Cadets and turned the momentum in their favor. With a little over eight minutes left in the first half, St. John's tacked on another goal.
To open the second half, EHS struggled to find their defensive footing and allowed the Cadets to score their fourth goal of the contest. The Maroon attack picked up their play from there and started stringing together passing plays and were able to move the ball up the field. The defense held the Cadets off for the remainder of the game. The Maroon offense put the pressure on in the final minutes of the game when they had repeated offensive penalty corner opportunities. Olivia Sokol '19 scored off a rebound of a shot taken by Eleanor Winants '18 to get the Maroon on the board with less than a minute remaining in the game. Halsey Ziglar '19 finished the game with 18 saves.
